We create a community who explores, learns, and enjoys the outdoors through paddle sports. As lifelong paddlers, our passion for the sport runs deep. Our team's diverse background allows us to offer expert info and advice on many different facets of the sport.
Dan Arbuckle and Dax we bundle these two together because they are kind of a package deal. Wherever Dan is you can bet Dax isn't far behind. Dan grew up as a paddler and cut his teeth in the Boy Scouts where he earned kayak and canoeing merit badges and took several multi-day kayaking trips around CA. As an adult Dan had dabbled in everything from rough water sea kayak, whitewater, Greenland rolling, kayak fishing and most recently canoeing as his family continues to grow. These days you can find him paddling around his Northstar 20’ triple with three kids, his wife Ashlie and a dog in tow.
Bill Beckett our Store Manager is an expert Fly Fisherman who stumbled across kayak fishing as a means to access more water, and connect with nature in a quiet and stealthy craft. Although he is well versed in fishing kayaks, he spends most his free time in a composite Northstar Solo Canoe. He also offers guided fly fishing trips through the shop.
Matt Guthrie is a bundle of passion that is contagious to anyone who comes in contact with him. His stoke for the sport of kayak fishing is unmatched by anyone we’ve ever met. He handles most of our demos and he also does much of our custom rigging and installs. Also starting in Feb 2018 he will also be heading up our Headwaters Kayak Fishing Guide service on the Delta.
Linda Cook is our inventory manager and makes sure we are well stocked and always have what you are looking for. She and her husband David are passionate Sea Kayakers who are dedicated to growing their skills and sharing their love for the sport. Linda helps us head up our Ladies only tours the first Saturday of every month. She is also a fixture on our Wednesday Evening Sunset tour, and Full Moon Paddles.
Bam Miller is a hardcore kayak fisherman with a knack for tricking out kayaks. He works closely with our kayak fishing customers to help with Demos, deciding which kayak to buy, and rigging them up for their style of fishing. He has a background in Fly Fishing, Trout Fishing, and kayak bass fishing. He spends most his weekends ether fishing local tournament trails, or building custom rods under his brand @gurucustomrods. He is always good for a laugh, and always willing to share helpful advice. If you love bass fishing recommend giving his personal page a follow as well @bamistheman
Josh Geiszler. Gluten Free, Fly Fishing, Hipster, Canoeist. Next to Dan Josh has the most amount of seat time of any of us. He and Dan have paddled hundreds of miles tandem in a canoe camping and fishing all over the Ca Delta. He is as kind hearted and humble as they come, and is always willing to share his knowledge and passion for the sport. Just don't be surprised if he cuts you off and tell you that you need to go hit the water. He's a firm believer of mixing one part talking with two parts paddling. He comes from the bike world where he shipped bicycle parts all over the world, so he will be helping us out with our online sales and shipping. Give him a follow on Instagram @thepoohisreel
Abigail (Abba) is the boathouse manager and one of the main tour guides for Headwaters Kayak. She currently holds her Level 2 Kayak Instructor certificate from the American Canoe Association. Enthusiastic and knowledgeable, Abba is the point person for all things boathouse related and is eager to help customers with any questions they may have. Off the water, you'll be hard pressed to track her down. She usually heads to the mountains with her dog to climb, hike, paddleboard, backpack, or - in the winter time - to ski.
Kitchi is the adventurous boathouse dog. During any given day, she will most likely be basking in the sun, observing the everyday boathouse bustle. In the morning and evening, Kitchi can be found on the Paddleboard, Kayak, or Canoe tours.
One of the sweetest individuals you will ever meet, Allie is a constant smile at the boathouse. She is a student at Lodi High School and an active member of the Lodi Community. An avid adventurer, Allie enjoys SUPing, photography, painting, and swimming. On her off days, Allie explores the mountains with her family.
A born and raised Lodi local, McKenna is a rising Senior at Grand Canyon University studying business management. She is a passionate Stand-Up Paddleboarder and is a regular sight on our SUP yoga sessions on the river. When she's not on the water, you can find McKenna hitting up the climbing gym, hiking, throwing down some killer two step dance moves, or taking her niece on some kind of rad adventure.
Brylee is a very active individual. She loves hiking, learning new things, and doing SUP yoga. One of her big accomplishments was doing the sharkfest swim...with no wetsuit! One item she's sure to be checking off this summer is skydiving. Brylee is a ray of sunshine at the boathouse and is passionate about her adventurous lifestyle.
Meet Cameron Taylor. A Lodi local, Cameron is a rising Junior at Tokay High School and plays sports year round. He runs track, cross country, and plays basketball. Cameron has been kayaking for years, going on trips with his parents as a child. He also enjoys hiking, camping, riding unicycles, and hanging out with friends.
Always down for adventure, Keean is a rising Junior at Connecting Waters Charter School. When he's not kayaking, he can be found on the basketball court shooting hoops with his buddies. On his down time, he is hanging out with friends and family.
