Bill Beckett/ @headwatersflyfishing
-My choice in a kayak under $1000 is the Bonafide EX123 because of its paddling efficiency and simple, snag-free layout. I like to cover water, but still, want to stand and cast when I get to my spot.
Matt Guthrie/ @matt_Mandu
-My pick is the Cresent Ultra Lite Tackle. I like it for its light weight and ease of paddling on the water. This is my grab and go kayak when I’m just fishing for a few hours, or launching down rocky levee. I love that it’s small, yet still has a nice roomy standing platform.
Josh Geizler/ @the_pooh_is_real
-My favorite kayak of the bunch is the Crescent Ultra Lite Tackle. For a small easy to transport kayak, it still has plenty of speed and stability for me at 200lbs. I mostly fly fish, so a clutter-free deck is key! I was very torn between this and the RS117, but ultimately the Crescent is on my van more than the Bonafide.
Bam Miller/ @bamistheman
-I think the Vibe Seaghost has the most bang for the buck. The rudder, and center hatch put it just ahead of the Crescent Lite Tackle for me.
Dan Arbuckle/ @headwaterskayak
-I choose the Crescent Kayaks Lite Tackle. I love the fact that they put hull design first on this kayak. It handles incredibly well in all types of water. It still easy to stand in, yet I can still edge it and drive it like a proper kayak. So many yaks are built around standing, and the hull performance suffers. The Lite Tackle is the best blend of stability and performance that I’ve ever seen! Plus it’s built like a Sherman Tank.
